The work

Commercial floors take far more traffic than residential ones, and the right material depends on how the space is used. Substrate condition, moisture, and downtime all influence the choice more than appearance alone.

HomeStead GC arranges removal of existing flooring, substrate preparation and installation through licensed trades, and can stage work to keep part of your space usable.

What is included

  • Removal and disposal of existing flooring
  • Substrate repair, levelling and preparation
  • Installation of commercial-grade flooring materials
  • Transitions, baseboard and finish details
  • After-hours or phased scheduling where practical

What to know in Durham Region and the GTA

Winters across Durham Region and the GTA bring salt, slush and sand into entrances, so entry zones deserve a material and matting plan that can handle it. Slab moisture is another local concern, especially in older buildings, and should be checked before flooring is laid.

We install across Durham Region and the GTA, and coordinate the flooring with any other renovation work underway so the schedule stays tidy.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can commercial flooring be installed after hours?

Often. Scheduling after hours or in phases is common for occupied spaces, and we discuss what is realistic for your space during the site visit.

Why does substrate preparation matter?

Flooring only performs as well as what is under it. Uneven or damp concrete can cause adhesive failure, bubbling and premature wear, so we assess and prepare the substrate before installation.

Do you remove the old flooring?

Yes. Removal and disposal of existing flooring can be included in the scope along with any substrate repairs.

Who does the work on my project?

HomeStead GC is a general contractor backed by a network of over 42 licensed professional trades. For commercial flooring, we bring in the specific trades the scope calls for and coordinate them under one point of contact, so you are not managing separate contractors yourself.
